How We Tested It

About That 80-Pint Number
This is where most of the confusion around this unit lives, so let’s clear it up first.
Quick background: ENERGY STAR is an EPA certification meaning a product hits a baseline of energy efficiency. “ENERGY STAR Most Efficient” is a narrower tier above that, for products that go past the standard requirements. It’s a real distinction, and the RHEA-001 genuinely holds it — we confirmed that in the government’s own database.
Now the pints. Aeocky publishes two figures for this unit: 80 pints per day at 95°F and 95% humidity, and 56 pints per day at 86°F and 80% humidity. That first condition is a saturation test. Think sauna, not basement. It’s also the number that ends up in the product title.
Meanwhile, the unit’s actual ENERGY STAR certification lists water removal at 24.5 pints per day under the standard test condition.
Same machine. Three numbers. Three different tests.
None of that makes 80 pints a lie. It’s a real measurement under a real (if extreme) condition. The problem is that it’s presented as the number with no test condition anywhere near it, so a shopper has no way to know that 80 and 24.5 are both true.

The Coverage Number, Finally Sorted
The square footage was a mess until we asked about it directly.
Aeocky’s Prime Day press materials said 4,500 square feet. Their Amazon listing for the same unit said 5,500. So we emailed Aeocky’s media team. Their answer was direct: 5,500 sq. ft. is correct and current. The 4,500 references are leftovers from older materials and a site rebuild that’s still in progress. If you’re comparing this unit against a listing or review still showing 4,500, that’s the stale figure.
One caveat that has nothing to do with Aeocky: square footage is a mediocre way to rate any dehumidifier. An Amazon buyer made this point better than we could — floor area ignores ceiling height, and what a dehumidifier actually has to work against is air volume. Length times width times height.
Manufacturers across the category use the flatter, better-looking number. Another buyer found this unit couldn’t keep up in their space until Aeocky upgraded them to a bigger model for free, at which point it worked fine. So How Much Water Does It Actually Pull?
We ran two sessions, both collecting into the internal tank rather than a drain hose, since that’s how most people will actually use it.
Test 1 ran about five hours in Constant Humidity Mode with a 40% target, at roughly 90°F ambient. It collected about 4.9 pints. Extrapolated to a full day, that’s around 23.6 pints — right in line with the certified 24.5.
Test 2 ran in Smart Drying Mode and started at a swampy 67%. The first hour was the unit’s best showing anywhere in our testing: 1.5 pints, which works out to over 36 pints a day if it held that pace. It didn’t, and it shouldn’t have. What this means for you: the certified 24.5 pints/day is a peak-capacity figure under sustained load. Once your room is actually dry, the unit will collect far less, because there’s far less to collect. That’s the machine doing its job, not failing at it.
Don’t Rely on the Panel Display Alone
We logged the unit’s own humidity readout against our independent sensor at every checkpoint. They rarely matched exactly:

One caveat on our own numbers: our sensor sat about two feet from the unit, and the air right around a running dehumidifier tends to be drier than the rest of the room, since that’s where it’s pulling moisture out. That’s 8 to 33% over spec. Before you read that as a company fudging numbers, here’s what’s actually going on.
Dehumidifier wattage and efficiency specs — including ENERGY STAR certification itself — come from a standardized lab test, and the current DOE procedure specifies 65°F ambient temperature, chosen to represent a typical basement. Our garage ran 85 to 90°F. That’s a 20 to 25 degree gap, and compressor draw climbs with ambient heat: the warmer the room, the harder the compressor works to move heat out of it.
This isn’t an Aeocky quirk.
Field research submitted to the Department of Energy found real-world dehumidifier efficiency running more than three times below certified ratings, specifically because actual homes are warmer than the test chamber. Here’s the irony: Smart Drying is the least adjustable mode on the machine. Fan speed locked, target humidity locked. And “smart” doesn’t mean connected — there’s no app, no Wi-Fi, no remote anything. The unit’s own ENERGY STAR record spells it out, listing it as “Connected Capable: No.”
That said, it works. Our dedicated test above showed it engaging and running exactly as it should. “Smart” here just means “set it and forget it,” not “check it from your phone.”
One Trade-Off Worth Understanding
In Sleep mode, the full-tank alarm doesn’t sound. Every other mode gives you three beeps and a solid red light when the tank fills. Sleep mode gives you a dim “FL” on the display and nothing else.

The Waykar’s 80-pint claim almost certainly comes from the same saturation-condition test we unpacked above — it deserves the same scrutiny before you take it at face value.
